Dan bonked in Fiji.
We fixed it.
Day one - we went from first place to dead last in the space of a few hours. Dan went from being a paddling powerhouse to face-down in the mud. Dozens of teams passed us as we waited for him to recover. It wasn't fast, and it wasn't pretty, but we clawed our way back to being the top American team.
It shouldn't take that much grit and determination! Fuel right, race smart. We did our best to learn the lesson, and along the way we started making our own recipe of powdered fuel. Designed to put a rediculous amount of calories in one bike bottle, it's easier to manage than anything else we've found, and flavored to still be drinkable on day 8. Eventually, we started selling it.
